During a netball match statistics or stats are recorded that later help to analyse the game. A brief explanation of these if below:
Progressive Scores & Quarter Scores - Cumulative scores for each team at the end of each quarter, and extra period; along with the number of goals each team scored within each quarter and period.
Shooting Statistics - Recorded as goals made from attempts by individual shooters, in each quarter & extra period, and tallied for each shooter, and each team, for the entire game, with success percentages.
Offensive Rebound - The rebound from a missed goal was caught by a member of the team that missed the shot.
Defensive Rebound - The rebound from a missed goal was caught by a member of the opposing team.
Intercepts - A player actively created a situation that allowed her to take possession of the ball. This includes the most common case where a player reads the play and steps into the path of the ball, and less common cases such as when the player holds the intended recipient out of play and prevents them from getting into position to catch the ball. A key point is that the player must secure the possession of the ball.
Turnover - A Bad Pass, Bad Catch or an infringement penalised by the umpire. This includes Contact and Obstruction penalties where possession changes from one team to the other.
Contact/Obstruction - All Contact and Obstruction infringements penalised by the umpire.
