Appointment of new Talent Coaches
19th August 2008 - England Netball
England Netball is pleased to announce the appointment of Anna Newell and Joanna Munnion as the 2008/09 National Talent Coaches.
Anna Newell is currently Superleague coach for Leeds Carnegie and is a prime example of how the talent programme works. Anna was selected into the U16 squad and continued through the U18, U19 and 2000 squad until she was selected for the national squad. She will coach the Talent 1 (U17) group, taking them through to Netball Europe to compete in the U17 Championships in Gibraltar.
Joanna Munnion is a regional talent coach for the east of England and coach at the Mavericks Youth Squad. Despite a brief time in the national squad she prefers coaching and says that she can understand far more than she can physically do. Jo will coach the Talent 2 (U19) group, taking them through to Netball Europe to compete in the U21 Championships in Scotland.
Jo and Anna will be leading the forthcoming summer performance camp from the 18th – 27th August in Bath. They will be working with talent coaches from each region and a team of specialists to provide the athletes with a series of education, training and playing opportunities. At the end of the 10 day camp the athletes will be selected into groups ready for the training weekends in September.
We would like to take this opportunity to warmly welcome both Anna and Joanna on board and wish them all the best for the new season.
